Deep snow is Mother Nature’s way of separating the strong animals from the weak. Thankfully Tantoo is young and fit and managed to battle his way out of the deep after venturing off the beaten track.
A few days ago, we had to rescue one of the older residents at the Llama Sanctuary after he put one foot in the deep stuff and fell over. Once an animal falls onto its back in the deep snow, it is VERY difficult for them to get up again, since the snow conforms to the shape of the body, leaving the poor creature waggling its legs in the air.
