Donate to Llama Rescue
Think of animal rescue and you probably think of cats and dogs at the local SPCA shelter who have been picked up off the streets. But situations arise in life that place all domesticated animals at risk. Illness, death or other dramatic change in personal circumstances of the carers may lead to animals suddenly being without the necessary care and while it’s relatively easy to find someone to care for a cat or a dog, a herd of llamas requires a whole new understanding. That’s why organizations such as The Llama Sanctuary are so important in this world..
It’s true! Llamas don’t have the same ‘sex appeal’ as fluffy kittens that treat the world as one big playground or grinning dogs that go wild with excitement when you return from a ten minute visit with your neighbour. Attracting funds necessary to support large animal rescue and care is somewhat more challenging than for the cute and cuddlies.
Cute and cuddly creatures attract attention, meaning that donations and sponsors are somewhat more forthcoming, ……although I would never say easy!

The Llama Sanctuary
There is a never-ending list of supplies that are required to keep a Sanctuary of this sort running smoothly: toenail clippers, fence posts, tractor parts, trailer maintenance, medicines, not to mention the hundreds of bales of hay required every winter. Every penny means a lot to The Llama Sanctuary and you can be certain that every penny donated goes directly to support these animals in need.

Fundraising Through Fibre Arts
The Llama Sanctuary came up with a way to generate those notes of promise that we call money, by providing something of value in return for donations. Serving the needs of the fiber arts community, Fibre Arts Bootcamp (FABinBC), was created as the fund-raising arm of The Llama Sanctuary. FABinBC makes knitting needles; not your ordinary little clickety sticks, but BIG chunks of polished Birch and Maple; unusual things of beauty that we call Mega Hooks. These Mega Hooks are offered in exchange for small donations, through our sister website Fibre Arts Bootcamp. Zoom along there now and you will also find a series of unusual plans that show you how to convert a treadle sewing machine into a superb, high powered spinning wheel, as well as a simple style of weaving loom, a fiber picker and a unique tumbler that will get the dirt out of a fleece is no time at all. …and there are more plans to come!
